I read a few days ago that there were Korean articles about My Name is Kim Sam Soon being adapted in the US. And being an idiot in hangeul, I didn’t understand what the articles said. All I know is that NBC is going to make an adaptation.

Good thing I came across an english explanation of some Korean article. Please read on.

U.S. remaking My Name Is Kim Sam-soon

My Name Is Kim Sam-soon (aka My Lovely Sam-soon), the super-popular 2005 drama that made Kim Sun-ah and Hyun Bin into household names, is being given the Hollywood treatment and remade as a U.S. television series. Hopefully Sam-soon will meet with better success as a remake than other Hollywoodified versions like My Sassy Girl and Il Mare (as The Lake House).

NBC will be producing the series as a prime-time drama, casting has been completed, with the script is in the revision process. Production is scheduled to begin early next year.

A few notes on the U.S. television process: just because a drama has entered production does NOT mean, as it does in Korea, that it will definitely air. The pilot will need to be shot, after which point the network can decide whether or not to order more episodes. If it dies in that stage, we’ll never see it, and if it proceeds, it will usually be given an initial 13-episode order, or half a season. (If the ratings are good, the back 9 episodes will usually be ordered to finish out the season. If ratings are bad, the series may be canceled at any point, whether or not all the produced episodes have been aired. There’s always a small chance that the drama will be picked up to series but canceled before any episodes air.)

Also, I actually heard about this a few months ago (in an unofficial capacity), and if the people involved in this remake are who I think they are, there’s a chance this series may turn out decently well. Also, considering that Samsoon was compared a lot to Bridget Jones’s Diary, the inherent premise of the series is one that translates well to Western audiences.

Omo, I had mixed emotions about this news. At first, I was happy that MNIKSS is given this much attention. I’m sure it’s because of the uniqueness of the story and it’s huge success in most Asian countries. And off course, because of the superb acting of the cast.

But then, I felt a bit of foreboding because US-made adaptations or remakes have poor results. They either do away from the original storyline and they mix the plot with the Western culture or they completely change a huge part of the story.

Aigoo, I don’t want MNIKSS to be butchered. I have a lot of lovely memories about this particular drama. As I mentioned before, this is myn all-time favorite. This is the pinnacle (for me) of the Korean dramas that swept everyone. And this is where I watched Kim Sun ah for the first time.

I wish they (NBC) wouldn’t slaughter this drama. I hope the cast (which isn’t released yet) be at par with Sam Soon and Sam Shik. I hope they wouldn’t taint my memories of this drama.

Here’s hoping that everything goes well. I’m anxiously awaiting the pilot next year.

Alam n’yo bang hindi pa nagsisimula ang soap opera na inilaan para sa singer-actress, ang Kim Sam Soon, ay may ikinakasa na silang bagong weekly musical show para kay Regine?
   
Wala pa raw title ang show, pero tiyak na maiibigan ng lahat ng mahilig sa mga awitin ng Asia’s Songbird.
   
Ayon sa aming source, mas mauuna pang ipalabas ang weekly show ni Regine, kesa sa Kim Sam Soon.         Ang soap ni Regine ay mapapanood daw either sa June or July pa sa primetime block ng Kapuso network.
   
Samantala, ang birthday special ng singer-actress na iti-teyping sa April 11 ay definite nang ipalalabas  bilang isang weekend special.

I was hoping she would do Kim Samsoon first.  The Samsoon loonies are excited to see a local version of this Korean drama, but they are prolonging the wait.  Sigh.  And I thought May would be the target month.  Hmff.

This is such a problem for me, schedule-wise.  Kim Suna’s new drama (When it’s at night) is supposedly going to be shown by June, so I will be hounding the net again for torrents.  Her movie is also reportedly going to be released on that month.

Then, Ms. Go’s (Go Hyun Jung) new drama is also set to start shooting on May.  And by June, promo pics are going to be all over the internet. 

Then the local Kim Samsoon is also going to be shown on June?  Aigoo!  I’m truly going to be super busy.  Waaaah!!

Pero, he should be hot just like Hyun Bin.  Mysterious ang dating at mejo masungit, pero lovable at sweet pala.  Weee, can’t wait.

Minna, sumimasen. It’s been like forever since I last posted the day 50 transcript of MNIKSS. I’m really sorry. I got busy with something else so I wasn’t able to concentrate with the transcript. I hope you understand.

Anyway, here it is. The day 51 Filipino transcript of the hit Korean drama My Name is Kim Samsoon. This drama was shown Monday to Friday, 9:30pm, over GMA-7 in the Philippines.

This is a sad episode. After allowing Cyrus to go to the States with Hanna, Samsoon feels betrayed when she wasn’t able to receive any form of communication from her beloved. No phone calls, no letters, not even a silly postcard. After giving her full trust, is this what Cyrus gives in return? Aww! My heart hurts too when I saw Samsoon suffering.

And the episode title some kinda contradicts what we’ve seen (or read) so far.

Just like what Samsoon says, if you don’t want your heart to be broken, then don’t fall in love.

But the truth is, it’s lonelier when you don’t experience love at all. Some even say that your life is not complete if you’ve never loved. For me, I think I would welcome the hurts that comes along with the love than stay lonely and alone forever or even a tiny span of time. Coz life is really different when you’re in love? Deshou (right)?

Oh, by the way, the MNIKSS crew had a party (farewell maybe) after the tearing of the application form scene. Sun-ah unnie’s face is red from crying. She really got close with everyone that’s why it was hard for her to say goodbye. Sure they can still communicate, but it’s different like before, when they see each other everyday, the whole day. Haaay, life.

Friends, sumimasen… I’ve been busy (or I’ve been making myself busy ) lately and I haven’t found the time to do this particular episode. It’s been more than a month since I last posted day 49. Chesohamnida. Truth be told, it really takes time to finish one particular episode, and I do not have enough inspiration the previous days. I feel so stressed out and I really want to have at least some vigor before starting to type a chapter of the wonderful life of Samsoon.

Anyway, here it is. The day 50 Filipino transcript of the hit Korean drama My Name is Kim Samsoon. This drama was shown Monday to Friday, 9:30pm, over GMA-7 in the Philippines.

This one had so many cuts compared to the original korean version. It was soo frustrating for someone like me who has seen the series numerous times and who knows every scene by heart (asus). But I guess, since the series is over, there’s no use to get upset with it. If I could shed a pound or two by being angry at GMA’s take, I will gladly frustrate myself voluntarily, hahaha.

Here’s one pretty sight that was cut from the televised/tagalized version. Samsoon lovingly read “Momo” (her favorite book) to Amber till the child’s eyes close after their fun visit at the aqua park. And Cyrus looked at the two with such love in his eyes. Sayang! But here’s a pic for those who didn’t witness it, and for those who wants to see it again.

The best scene of the episode? Of course, the last one. When Cyrus dragged Samsoon in a corner and hugged her thankfully. Sweet!

Haay, sweet love. Trust, trust and trust. Samsoon feels she can trust Cyrus. Hopefully he will treasure it.

And of course, Hanna is again irritating! What’s new, anyway. Such an obnoxious creature.

Some episode hindsights;

In this very scene, you can see how very irritated and exhausted Samsoon is to Hanna and, well, yeah, to Henry because to her, they joined forces just to make fun of her. And it’s never a pleasant feeling to be laughed upon.

Oh, did you know that Sun-ah unnie was sick and with a high fever when she did the scenes from the name-change fiasco to the restaurant ambush of Cyrus from this episode? That time, their schedules were tight, they had to meet the deadline and the crew had to finish necessary scenes in a hurry. And due to constant filming without much rest, Sun-ah unnie’s body squeaked time out. But she couldn’t take a leave of absence, not when the whole production is running out of time. So even when she felt so weak and she was running a fever, she still made it to the shoot. It’s a good thing she is a jolly person that she just took everything in stride, even making fun of the situation most of the time.

And of course, the Behind the Scene kilig moments.

Here’s some small insights from this episode. 

 
Cyrus lets Samsoon use his LV (the design looks like Louis Vuitton) house slippers. Hmmm, they are so at home with each other already.  Also, remember the access code of Cyrus’ door?  It was once Hanna’s phone number but since he became so smitten with Samsoon, he changed it immediately to her atm card’s pin.  How sweet!

 

 
And what’s sweeter than this?  Samsoon is so understanding.  Just a little kiss and she throws her worries away.  Cyrus, behave, okay?

Sun-ah and Bin are having some fun while shooting.  Just goes to show how at ease they are with each other.  And what is she doing with Hanna’s refrigerator?

Sun-ah is so cute, hehe.

And who says Samsoon looks good only with Cyrus?  She and Henry can also be quite a pair.  Their offsprings would definitely be a knock-out if they get hooked with each other.  With parents that are both gorgeous?  They would be so lucky in the looks department.

And even though we hate Hanna to the core, Ryu-won and Sun-ah are good friends in real life.  They’ve been going out together recently, showing their supports to their respective partners in this drama.

I hope that when Sun-ah’s movie gets shown, her friends from MNIKSS will show their love and support for her by attending the premiere night.  This time, Hyun Bin should be with them!

Next episode: Hanna still worms her way between our favorite pair.  And a new heartbreak for Samsoon.  Waah…

Kim Sun-Ah, Daniel Henney, Jung Ryu-Won gives Binnie warm encouragement!!

Kim Sun-Ah, Daniel Henney and Jung Ryu-Won from My Name Is Kim SamSoon made a special surprise visit to give warm words of encouragement to ’samshik’ Hyun Bin on the set of Snow Queen on the 19th. ‘Aja Aja Fighting, Hyun Bin!!’ they shouted.

Ko Doo Shim who’s playing TW (HB)’s mom in the drama were shooting at a street food stall in Seoul when the 3 of them made an unannounced visit to the set, showing the close friendships they are sharing.

Not only were the 3 stars there visiting binnie, many fr the production team and the crew showed up too at the set, turning it into a moving gathering of the MNIKSS team.

‘I feel like I’m fully charged up coz of the visit fr my friends fr MNIKSS!’ HB responded when asked what he felt when his colleagues visited him. ‘I wished the SQ crew will be close friends too like the MNIKSS crew after the shooting!’ He said hopefully.

Waah, how sweet!  So nice of them to give such great moral support to their friend (who seems to be struggling with the ratings of his new drama).

Sun-ah was there!  Yiheee.  I’m sure the Sunbin shippers are now sewing new love angles with the said visit.

I just love the complete turnaround of Mommy Letty’s behavior towards Cyrus.  Cyrus’ charm worked full blast here.    And what a resounding success.  Just take a look at how Mommy Letty’s eyes flutter at him. 

The end of this episode is the start of another love ordeal for Samsoon.  Haaay love.  Samsoon, just hang in there.  If only I could, I would hang Hanna in a Meralco post somewhere so she wouldn’t be bothersome to you and Cyrus.  Hahahaha.

Here’s the day 45 Filipino transcript of the hit Korean drama My Name is Kim Samsoon. This drama was shown Monday to Friday, 9:30pm, over GMA-7 in the Philippines.

This episode (the whole of episode 14) is my most favorite.  It’s confusing, dreamy, kilig to the max, sad, crazy and really, really funny.  Samsoon’s top 7 is something I want to do for myself also.

Kim Sun-ah and Hyun Bin are one of the most famous actors in Korea that’s why it was no wonder My Name is Kim Samsoon was a hit.  And one proof of how big they are is the picture below.  They’ve been hounded by fans everywhere they shoot their scenes.  Too bad I didn’t get the pic where the fans are screaming wildly at HB.  And look how they hold their hands.
 

And there’s their subuan.

The behind the scene picture below is when Samsoon tries on the sexy outfit but doesn’t fit her.  Off-cam, Sun-ah unnie found a black blouse which she liked and Hyun Bin bought it for her.  Ang sweet di ba?  That’s why KSA sports a big smile.  Dedma lang kunyari si HB. 
 

Look at how the two of them get cozy after the takes?  Yeah right, their just friends.    And Hyun Bin is really taking advantage ha.  Look at the second picture. 
 

Here’s the necking/petting scene at the moviehouse. They’ve successfully acted out the part. But look at Hyun Bin’s hand? Is he really trying to feel Sun-ah’s back or he’s caught in the heat of the moment?

Sorry for the wait.  I’ve been a little busy and I had so much to do that I can’t quite allot a time for the transcripts.  Actually, days 45 til the last episode hasn’t been transcribed yet so it takes quite a lot of hours to finish one.  But anyway, I’ll work hard so I can finish everything.  I have to beat GMA’s My Name is Kim Samsoon rewind by posting the last episode before they televise it.    But they are cutting too much scenes that’s why it takes only a weekend to air one whole (Korean version) episode.  Sigh…  They let me down again.  Bad GMA. 

Anyway, this episode showed a lot of emotions.  From surprise, anger, sad, frightened, expectant, worried, concerned, etc, etc.  But it makes me really happy that this time around, it’s Samsoon whom Cyrus chose.  He followed his heart’s desire and the next episode will showcase his happiness with his decision.  Waah, I love you, Samshikie!
