Salmonella in Cadbury chocolates

photos from telegraph.co.uk

Oh no!!

That was my first reaction when I read the news.  This is bad news, to Cadbury and to those who love Cadbury chocolates.  I for one, love the Cadbury dairy milk product line.  And my nieces and nephews are suckers for Cadbury, or any chocolate brand, as long as it’s chocolate.

So be afraid, be very afraid.    I guess we have to refrain from buying the said brand.  Oh, crap!  I’m sure Hershey’s is bouncing with joy.

Good thing, my favorite brand is Ricoa because they manufacture Flat Tops and Curly Tops.  Just like my songbirdie, Regine Velasquez.   And my next fave is any ChocNut brand.  You know, those small bars that tastes like chocolate and peanut butter. :D   [Cheap lang ng taste ko sa sweets no?  ]

Anyway, please inform your loved ones about this catastrophe.   And don’t fall for those promos of buy 1 take 1 in malls all over with Cadbury as the premiere product being endorsed.

For further information on Cadbury chocolates infested with salmonella, search in Search Engines, okay??!!   Google and Yahoo can provide you with it.

This week’s TIME ASIA magazine features the cream of the crop of Asia.  And well, Philippines is included.  Not in the best place though, hahaha.  What do you expect?   Anyway, the best dessert in the whole wide world gets a page in that famous awareness magazine.  Yes!  Halo-halo!!  It’s about time that this heavenly sweet gets the limelight.

Halo-halo (mix-mix) is a mixture of assorted preserved sweet beans (black mongo/mung beans, garbanzos/chick peas), coconut gel (nata), jackfruit (langka), macapuno (creamy coconut meat), pounded rice crisps (pinipig), purple yam (ube), banana plaintain (saba), diced or small pieces of sweet potatoes (kamote), colored gelatin (gulaman), colored sago (tapioca), corn kernels (optional, some love it, some don’t), melon strips (cantaloupe, optional also), sugar, crushed ice and milk, topped with a scoop of ice cream. Yum!

This sweet icy dessert can be enjoyed anytime, especially in summer.  But I’d still be enjoying it even at Christmas time. :D   If a foreigner friend visits the Philippines, this is one of the best food for them to try.  They will literally forget their name because of the delicious taste.  And they will not forget halo-halo for a long time.

Mabuhay!
