‘I Luv NY’ titigbakin sa ere?

JournalPUMAPALAKPAK ngayon ang mga tenga ng stars ng I Luv NY dahil namamayagpag pa rin ang programa sa rating. Talo pa rin sa rating ng ILNY ang mga kalabang programa nito tulad ng Sa Piling Mo at My Girl ng Dos.
Kaya naman inspired mag-taping ang cast na sina Jolina Magdangal, Marvin Agustin, Jennylyn Mercado at Mark Herras.Hindi rin totoong ihihinto na ang programa. Tuluy-tuloy pa itong mapapanood kaya hindi dapat malungkot ang fans ng dalawang loveteam.Matatandaan na sa New York City pa nag-taping ang cast ng programa for three weeks. Aba, eh, first time ito sa history ng local television.
Good for them. It’s good to know that I Love New York is still dominating the ratings on their time slot. Though I don’t watch this drama often, I’d still prefer ILNY over My Girl. Although the other male lead there (Lee Jun-ki, oohhh ) looks super better than the female lead, I still tune in to GMA.
But I just hope that GMA will come up with better dramas in the future. Their orig stories are not very consistent most of the time. They have this very promising start that would entice the public to support the program but in the middle, the story segues to unimportant matters. The real concern is being pushed out of the limelight and the audience is left with a new story altogether. Tsk.
Well, anyway, good luck to I Love New York. Keep it up! 
Nagbalik ang magic ng tambalang Marvin/Jolens

Akala ko ay patuloy kong kasasawaan ang teleseryeng I Luv NY. Noong una kasi, sawang-sawa ako sa mga kalye ng New York City. Hindi naman kasi sa pagyayabang, apat na beses na akong nagpabalik-balik sa favorite city kong ito (bukod sa Paris, France) at na-bore ako sa paulit-ulit na pagpapakita ng magkakaparehong locale.
Buti na lang at nag-improve ng husto ang istorya, lalo na ng episode nina Jolina Magdangal at Marvin Agustin. Nagkaroon ng maraming conflict, naibalik ang kilig factor at muling napatunayang pagdating sa wholesome and young comedy, wala pang tatalo kay Jolens. At walang dudang magkabagay na magkabagay pa rin sila ni Marvin. Samahan pa ng maganda ring episode nina Jennylyn Mercado at Mark Herras, masasabi naming panalo ang teleseryeng ito.

Truly, this tandem is bankable. Almost all their projects together are hits. No wonder, becuase of their talent and the chemistry between them. I’ve always thought Jolina is cute and bubbly and she has this disposition of a cheerful person. And it’s always nice to look at people who are enjoying what they are doing.
Unfortunately, I Luv New York is not enjoying high ratings at the moment. It’s been my complaint eversince the drama started. That they should at least smoothen the transition to another story. It’s so irritating to watch a segment of a drama wherein the story is building up, then all of a sudden, they will switch to another story. Urgh!
And the Jolina-Marvin team does not enjoy the big screentime Jen-Mark does. Another reason why I don’t watch this drama religiously. In truth, I switch channel often just to get a glimplse at the Koreanovela in the other channel (I crush Lee Jun-Ki kasi, hehehe). Maybe if they put more attention to Polly and Albert, the drama might soar in the ratings race again. Not that their rival is far ahead. ILNY is still leading but in the primetime block, they’re almost below expectation. Tsk.
Anyway still, goodluck to Jolina.

Jolens worries about the trees
Sunday, June 18, 2006JOLINA MAGDANGAL’s staying power in show biz—from being a member of the singing group 14K to today’s main star in the hit series, I Luv New York—is a feat to achieve. “I started in the business at age 11, sometime in 1992; that means a total of 16 years,” says the former Ang TV star.
Still, Jolens, as she is fondly called, has never lost her appeal to the public. Besides her talent for acting, singing and hosting, her own style of clothes and faddish accessories has further made her distinct, gaining her loyal fans throughout the years. Moreover, amid the rush in her schedules for taping and TV guestings, she still finds time for the simple joys of life.
One of the simple things Jolina loves is the rustling sound of leaves. Nature has its own way of pleasing this TV star. But more than the leaves’ relaxing hush, it is the dwindling number of trees she worries about. The killer flashfloods in Leyte and Infanta, which were largely attributed to logging, both saddened her immensely.
When she saw the Haribon exhibit about diversity on the GMA Network lobby in 2005, she realized that a celebrity like her could lend a hand to a worthy cause. She then signed up to be one of Haribon’s Ambassadors for Conservation (HAC), along with Arnold Clavio, Karen Davila, Rhea Santos and Eagle Riggs.
She posed under the lens of Neal Oshima as her first activity. Says Jolina, “Pag may events na ganito pupuntahan ko talaga. Tapos kapag may mga activities like tree planting, kahit hindi ako magaling magtanim, open ako na matuto. . . Yung nangyari sa Leyte, sa tingin ko mas lalong dapat magkaroon tayo ng awareness para hindi nagsu-suffer ang mga inosenteng tao [Whenever there are activities for the environment, you can count me in. I’d go to tree-planting activities even if I don’t know how to plant trees because I’m very open to learning new things. The tragedies like Leyte should make us all aware of what’s happening to the environment so as not to allow innocent people to suffer the consequences].” Even in the urban areas where there are settlements, “dapat huwag tatanggalin ang mga puno, maganda kasi ’pag mapuno at mahangin [the trees should not be cut because it’s beautiful to see them, and the surroundings are breezier with a lot of trees around],” she adds.
Jolina’s inspiring messages and influence about nature conservation can go a long way in terms of stirring awareness especially on the young. She even offered herself to do storytelling for kids about forests and wild animals. Haribon is privileged to have Jolina as an advocate for forest conservation.
Nice talaga ni Jolens. She’s one of those celebrities who really care. And her efforts are well appreciated.
