Actually, Sun-ah unnie has been lying low again. Hope she has some big surprises for fans in the near (no, nearest) future.
Anyway, new pics are being circulated in the net, and I want to share them with you. I’m a bit late and I’m sure some of you had the copies already, but still, here they are. Just goes to show how Sunauus adiktus eimich is, puhahaha.
These are from Kim Sun-ah herself.

Vote for Suna in Korean Star Popularity
I know these polls are a bit petty, but what the heck. Only for Suna. And I’m not yet sure if you can go fly-voting. I’ll check with my Suna-adik chums if voting numerous times is allowed, ahehehe. Because I want to add more to her popularity. LOLZ.
Here are the instructions. Thanks to angie of soompi.
Step 1:
Step 2:
Step 3:
And while I was windowshopping in Landmark, I saw these pair of slippers (see pic below). Kyaa, now I want to own a pair, huhuhu. This is Sun-ah’s fault, hahaha.
First it was Crocs Sassari (which is, unfortunately, sooo phased out) and now, this Adilette. Kyaa, unnie, you’re so addicting!

Got these in dramabeans.
Go Hyun-jung to take on her first sageuk
November 19th, 2008 // by javabeansGo Hyun-jung (What’s Up Fox) is a kdrama veteran, but she’s about to make her sageuk debut only now in MBC’s large-scale sageuk drama Queen Seon-deok. This will mark her television return after her previous series, the cop drama HIT. Queen Seon-dok will be scripted by Kim Young-hyun (Hit, Dae Jang Geum) and Park Sang-yeon (Hit, JSA) and directed by PDs Park Hong-kyun (New Heart) and Kim Geun-hong (Yi San).
Initially, Go Hyun-jung was considered for the part of Queen Seon-deok herself, but is now cast in a different lead role. Her character, “Mi-shil,” is a beautiful court woman who manipulates men to bring herself into a position of power, who becomes one of the prominent heroines of Shilla times, along with the main character, Queen Seon-deok.
The drama will air sometime early next year and plans for 50 episodes, with the first portion of the drama to be filmed in China. With Chae Shi-ra leading another large-scale sageuk with KBS’s Empress Cheon-chu and Jung Ryeo-won taking on the role of Princess Ja-myung for SBS, will 2009 be the year of the strong female ruler? Time will tell.

Yey! After the disappointment in Daemul, now, I have another drama to anticipate for next year. And it’s very intriguing that Ms. Go is going to take on a “provocative” role.
But I’m a bit apprehensive on MBC’s choice for the titular role. Sung Yuri is not good in acting at all. She’s just an average actress for me. I mean, if I were to choose who’s a better actress, aside from my unnies Ms. Go and Suna, I will never, ever would have thought of her. Sorry to fans, but that’s just what I think. Sure, she has a lovely face, but that too can be easily overshadowed by those actresses who have stronger personalities (even if they are not pretty). She’s like a wallflower, for me, ahwehwe. She just blends easily in the crowd, doesn’t stand out. LOLZ.
Anyway, I’m sure Ms. Go is going to eat her alive if she doesn’t behave, acting-wise. I just feel there’s no balance in the combination. But it’s a good thing that Queen Seon-dok is going to concentrate more on Mi-shil, Ms. Go’s character. Yey! Can’t wait.
And sageuk, I’m not really sure what it means. Could it be period drama? Well, I hope that this drama will push through, unlike Daemul. Hmmff.
And “You Don’t Even Know is also going to be shown early next year. Gahhh, the anticipation is getting bigger and bigger, hehe.

Jung Jun-ho and Kim Sun-ah advocate for goodwill and cooperation
November 7th, 2008 // by javabeansOn November 7, Jung Jun-ho (The Last Scandal of My Life) and Kim Sun-ah (When Night Comes) were named spokespersons for the Korean headquarters of GCS International in Seoul.
GCS is nongovernmental organization (NGO) recognized as a special consultative body by the United Nations Economic and Social Council, whose name stands for its tenets “goodwill, cooperation, and service and contribution.”
At the same ceremony, the presidency of the Korean branch of GCS was passed from its ninth president to its newest, Song Seok-gu, currently chancellor at Gachon University of Medicine and Science.
From its website:
“GCS International advocates strongly for world peace… GCS actively supports peace movement campaigns and scholarly work on peace…
In order to promote the global village ideal, GCS International actively participates in international friendship and cultural exchange programs. GCS endorses sister-city programs and other exchange programs between GCS clubs and sponsors a Global Youth Leadership Program. Examples of such programs include the World Youth Representative Conference Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the UN, Visits of Korean GCS members to international clubs, and Study Korea Programs for Multi-cultural Youth Leaders from LA.”

Sun Ah unnie was presented an award, again!! Yey. Seems her clean-living is a good testament to a lot of people in Korea that’s why she’s been chosen.
By the way, she was awarded with the tribute alongside Jung Joon Ho (Princess Lulu, Last Scandal of my Life). Ooh, they look good together. (Wish)
Anyway, here are pics from the awards ceremony.
Aigoo, I miss Sunny.

I read a few days ago that there were Korean articles about My Name is Kim Sam Soon being adapted in the US. And being an idiot in hangeul, I didn’t understand what the articles said. All I know is that NBC is going to make an adaptation.
Good thing I came across an english explanation of some Korean article. Please read on.

U.S. remaking My Name Is Kim Sam-soon
November 5th, 2008 // by javabeansMy Name Is Kim Sam-soon (aka My Lovely Sam-soon), the super-popular 2005 drama that made Kim Sun-ah and Hyun Bin into household names, is being given the Hollywood treatment and remade as a U.S. television series. Hopefully Sam-soon will meet with better success as a remake than other Hollywoodified versions like My Sassy Girl and Il Mare (as The Lake House).
NBC will be producing the series as a prime-time drama, casting has been completed, with the script is in the revision process. Production is scheduled to begin early next year.
A few notes on the U.S. television process: just because a drama has entered production does NOT mean, as it does in Korea, that it will definitely air. The pilot will need to be shot, after which point the network can decide whether or not to order more episodes. If it dies in that stage, we’ll never see it, and if it proceeds, it will usually be given an initial 13-episode order, or half a season. (If the ratings are good, the back 9 episodes will usually be ordered to finish out the season. If ratings are bad, the series may be canceled at any point, whether or not all the produced episodes have been aired. There’s always a small chance that the drama will be picked up to series but canceled before any episodes air.)
Also, I actually heard about this a few months ago (in an unofficial capacity), and if the people involved in this remake are who I think they are, there’s a chance this series may turn out decently well. Also, considering that Samsoon was compared a lot to Bridget Jones’s Diary, the inherent premise of the series is one that translates well to Western audiences.

Omo, I had mixed emotions about this news. At first, I was happy that MNIKSS is given this much attention. I’m sure it’s because of the uniqueness of the story and it’s huge success in most Asian countries. And off course, because of the superb acting of the cast.
But then, I felt a bit of foreboding because US-made adaptations or remakes have poor results. They either do away from the original storyline and they mix the plot with the Western culture or they completely change a huge part of the story.
Aigoo, I don’t want MNIKSS to be butchered. I have a lot of lovely memories about this particular drama. As I mentioned before, this is myn all-time favorite. This is the pinnacle (for me) of the Korean dramas that swept everyone. And this is where I watched Kim Sun ah for the first time.
I wish they (NBC) wouldn’t slaughter this drama. I hope the cast (which isn’t released yet) be at par with Sam Soon and Sam Shik. I hope they wouldn’t taint my memories of this drama.
Here’s hoping that everything goes well. I’m anxiously awaiting the pilot next year.
Let me add this pretty pic of Sam Soon. ![]()

Sunny, fighting!!

Sun Ah unnie is being visible recently. First, the Rain comeback show; second, her SK commercial; then her tax awarding. And now, she attended another movie premiere. (Ooh, I wish it was her movie)
She went to the premiere of Miindo (or Portrait of a Beauty as the international title) with Shinee/Shin Yi. Shin Yi is a great comedian (I think). I’ve seen her in Daddy Long Legs and other movies (I forgot most of them, ahehehe). I didn’t know she is chummy with Sunny. Just look at the way she gazes at Sunny unnie, as if she herself is star struck.
Anyway, here are pics from the premiere.
Portrait of a Beauty also has a television counterpart that’s being aired by KBS. The title is Painter of the Wind, and it stars Moon Geun Young (My Little Bride, Innocent Steps) and Park Shin Yang (Lovers in Paris, War of Money).
Aigoo, when will Sunny start a new movie? Or drama? Or even a variety show (where she will dance every week, ahehe)?

Oh, last week, Sunny was awarded yet a new honor for being a good citizen who pays her taxes regularly, ahehehe. Wow, Sunny is really law-abiding and a great example to all (yoohoo, tax scammers). And with this award, it makes me very curious to know how much Sunny’s talent fee is. Hmmm, I seem to not have read her name included in the list of actors with high asking prizes. I guess, she’s not like those primadonna’s out there who have increased their TF just because their recent drama or movie was a success.Fighting, Sunny unnie!
And here are some pics from their street campaign. Together with her is Song Il-kook (Jumong).
